Let's cut to the chase: Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! The name Dogmatic is misleading, these are not hot dogs, these are sausages. Here's how it works, you choose a sausage and a sauce from the list. You can pick any combo you like:
Next is something I doubt you've ever seen: a freshly baked baguette is impaled on a hot spike to toast it from the inside out. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
The sauce is drizzled into the baguette hole and the sausage slides in to create a fancy pig in a blanket. I tried the beef-jalapeno cheddar combo and was delighted by the strong, spiciness of the sausage as well as the chewiness of the bread. Unlike a regular hotdog bun, this bread holds its own.
The layout is pleasingly minimalist, with a community table in the center and benches along the sides. I sat there, chewing busily, planning my return trip in a few days. Five types of sausages, six types of sauces...... In 10th grade, I could have easily tabulated the max combinations thereof. Safe to say, there are a lot. I plan to visit until I have exhausted them all.
I like the idea of toasting the baguette from inside out..
ReplyDeleteWas suppose to eat hotdog in NY the last time but we didn't manage to squeeze it in... I guess this time round there wouldn't be any excuses yah? :)
Hot dog and baguette is such a funny marriage of something so very American with something very Frenchie. Sounds very tempting! We might have to take a field trip up there...
