Roti Canai - Kuala Lumpur

Waking Up with Street Breakfast
Dating a superstar has its perks - getting a lot of sleep isn't one of them.  She often learns about her big-shot meetings the day before and then puts on her sweetest, squeeky-mouse voice "You wanna go KL, baaaaaaaaaaaaaabe?"  At 5:45am today I wasn't sure why I'd agreed.  We caught the 7am flight and just a few hrs later, sitting at a street stall in the warmth, I was glad I did.  The spicy sauce served with the Roti Canai here is just what you need to get the blood platelets flowing again.
I had Roti Canai in Penang, the last time I came to Malaysia.  It was so different from what I was used to in Singapore.  Today's version was familiar though the side sauces were very different.  I really enjoyed the spicy one, I dunked repeatedly.
There was also a much milder dal sauce with a few chunks of potato.  I finished it off one spoonful at a time.  We had a few glasses of teh tarik (pulled tea) which was very sweet, adding an extra boost to my wake up efforts.
All in, breakfast for two, about $1.50.  Gotta love that.  Ok, off to do touristy stuff, check in with you later.

    1. The Nasi breakfast was pretty good too. I don't know why I didn't take photos. Maybe I went into greedymode?

  2. I've never been to KL ..... YET. But I know what you mean about the prices. We averaged $10 US daily in Hanoi on food and drink! Gotta love it.

    2. I know what you mean. Prices in America are terrible. I averaged $15US per breakfast, and that's not including lunch or dinner! Obscene, hey?

    3. Careful now, America is a big place with a lot of inexpensive breakfasts. Where were you?
