Ah Long Pancake - Singapore

It's All About the Combos, Kids
Sure, you can get a simple peanut pancake, which I do from time to time. Or, you can take it up a notch at Ah Long, where the combos are paramount. I had a hard time choosing but finally settled on a egg-cheese-peanut. I watched em turn a small bowl of batter into my personal-pan sized cake in a flash. I wasn't sure what to expect, to be honest. I love all three ingredients by themselves but was unsure of mixing them. After a few bites I was happy. The egginess hit me first and the peanuttiness last. I never did taste the cheese, to be honest. This is the perfect small snack, especially when freshly hot.

Potong Pasir Pancake Lady - Singapore

Showing My Love for All Things Peanut
Potong Pasir is a neighborhood in Singapore that's a stop away from Puffin's on the MRT (subway.) I like to go over there from time to time to visit with the peanut pancake lady. She whips me up a fresh, hot peanut "pancake" in less than a minute. It's more like a small crepe with molten crunchy peanut butter insides. If you're a fan of peanut butter or peanuts you'll probably like this.

Crêperie Bretonne Fleurie - Paris

Would You Eat This?
What is it, you ask? Well, my good friend, it's a galette with lardons and onions on the inside and mushrooms and egg on the outside. What's a galette? And what's a lardon? You sure are full of questions, aren't you? First, I have a question for you.....

Breizh Cafe - Paris

A Small Piece of Brittany in Paris
Excuse the alliteration, but Breizh means Brittany, in Breton. Breton is a celtic language that is a relative of Cornish and Welsh. I had no clue about any of that until I read this. The Breizh Cafe focuses on galettes and crepes, Breton-style. Below is my "Galette de Champignons", a tasty mix of cheese, mushrooms and ham wrapped in a buckwheat envelope. It was delicious.

Crêperie Suzette - Paris

Savory Crepes on rue des Francs Bourgeois
I spent most of Sunday afternoon walking around the Marais. I was absolutely starving and remembered I was a few short blocks from this wonderful creperie. They serve both crepes and galettes, I was in the mood for the latter.
